Upgrading Bonfire?

Atlassian Bonfire 2.3 includes updates to the JIRA server plugin, as well as major updates to client browsers. All browser extensions will need to be upgraded by visiting the "Get Bonfire" page from your JIRA instance after the server plugin is upgraded. For more information on upgrades, check out our Capture for JIRA Upgrade Guide.

Highlights of Bonfire

Multiple screenshots for a single issue

Since its launch, Bonfire has only been able to work with a single screenshot per issue. Adding multiple screenshots was possible with the "Attach to Existing Issue" feature, but this wasn't quite the same.

In Bonfire 2.3 we've added the ability to attach and annotate as many screenshots as you want while creating a single issue. The old on/off functionality is gone, replaced with a Next Screenshot button which will take you back to the page under test and allow you to keep browsing.

As Chrome and Safari don't have a permanent sidebar, we've added an indicator to the Bonfire icon to show that issue creation is still in progress. You can click this icon at any time to add another screenshot.

Non-screenshot file attachments

To further enhance the attachments functionality in Bonfire, we've added a file picker that allows you to attach any file from the Bonfire sidebar. You can even select multiple files using shift+click or ctrl+click (or cmd+click on Mac OS X).

If your browser supports it, image attachments will also show a thumbnail preview.

Any attachment (including screenshots) can be removed before sending to JIRA by hovering over the thumbnail and clicking the delete icon.

Performance improvements

For Bonfire 2.3 we also focused on "speed as a feature" and tried to make data loading in the sidebar as fast as possible, which should be easily noticeable on slower networks.
