Upgrading Bonfire?

Atlassian Bonfire 2.6 includes updates to the JIRA server plugin, as well as major updates to client browsers. All browser extensions will need to be upgraded by visiting the "Get Bonfire" page from your JIRA instance after the server plugin is upgraded. For more information on upgrades, check out our Capture for JIRA Upgrade Guide.

Paste images from the clipboard

Bonfire 2.6 gives you the ability to add image attachments directly from your computer's clipboard. This allows enormous flexibility in the process of quick issue creation, and provides a fast integration with native operating system screenshot-to-clipboard tools – great for teams using Bonfire for non-browser applications.

Simply copy a screenshot to the clipboard using your chosen method (e.g. Cmd+Shift+Ctrl+4 for Mac OS X, or Alt+Prt Sc for Windows), then press the "Paste" button in Bonfire to add the attachment. This works with any image data in the clipboard (such as the "Copy Image" context menu option in a lot of browsers).

Note: This feature is not available in the Safari extension due to Safari security permissions.

Annotate any attached image before submitting

To provide the best experience when pasting images from the clipboard, Bonfire now allows you to add annotations to any image in your attachments list. This includes screenshots, pasted images and images attached via the "Add File" dialog or drag-and-drop.

Just click on the thumbnail to start annotating. All annotations are remembered with the images, so you can go back and add/edit/remove annotations for any of your images before sending them to JIRA.

The image currently being annotated can be identified by a green border.

Annotation font size and line width

Up until now, Bonfire has only allowed one font size and one line thickness when annotating screenshots. However, a single size isn't always the best option, so Bonfire 2.6 allows you to change both the font size for text annotations, and the line width/thickness for other annotation types.

Existing annotations can also have their font size and line width changed while they are selected.

Comments with attachments

To round off the upgrade of attachments in Bonfire 2.6, we have also enabled adding comments when attaching files to an existing issue.

All image attachments will be added to the comment as thumbnails for better context. You can also choose to have the browser's information (user agent string) added to the end of the comment for greater detail about the testing environment.

View inactive test session details in the browser extensions

Previously, viewing the full details of a test session in the browser extensions – such as additional information, issues raised and session notes – could only be done for the user's active session.

Bonfire 2.6 gives you the ability to view the details of any session that appears in the Sessions tab of the extensions by clicking on the session summary. This also allows you to add session notes to any session, as long as the user permissions allow it.

Complete sessions in the browser extensions

In our previous release, Bonfire 2.5 added the ability to create, edit and delete test sessions in the browser extensions. Bonfire 2.6 finishes the end-to-end session workflow by allowing you to complete sessions within the extensions.

To complete a test session, view its details, then click the "Complete" button. Here you can link raised issues to the session's related issue(s) and enter time tracking information.

Clone test session

In the JIRA plugin, it is now possible to clone a test session, including the assignee, additional information, related issues and default issue template.

To clone a session, click the "More Actions" dropdown then select "Clone Session" and choose a new name.
