Linking Existing Defects

Zephyr's Defect Tracking application can be found in all the Desktops - Test Manager, Test Lead, Tester, and Other Roles.

An existing defect can be linked to the execution of a testcase. In Test Execution, if the status of a testcase has been changed, a D or defect button pops up. Clicking on that D button will allow the creation of a new defect or linking an existing defect via the dialog below:

The top half shows the currently linked defect(s). Additional existing defects can be linked to this testcase execution by selecting the existing and search for the appropriate defects. The Search allows for partial words and actual IDs of the defect and this now searches against the appropriate defect tracking system. It then displays the search results in the bottom half of the dialog and allows the user to add one or more defects to the list of linked defects above.

Creating a Sub-Task or Linking to an Existing One

If integrated to JIRA, a sub-task can be created after searching for the Parent issue. A JIRA ID can be entered or JQL can be used to search for that issue. Once found, clicking on the Create Sub-Task button opens a dialog that allows details to be entered for that sub-task to be created and associated with that parent issue in JIRA.

If a sub-task already exists, then searching for it in the Link Defect area shows a list of Parent issue/Sub-tasks and clicking on the Link button will link that sub-task to this test execution.
