Zephyr's Defect Tracking application can be found in all the Desktops - /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77857381, /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77857405, /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77889947, and /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77923107 Test Manager, Test Lead, Tester, and Other Roles. If no defect tracking system is selected, then this application will not be displayed in these Desktops.

Defects can be opened in two ways:

  1. On opening the application and selecting the "New" tab
  2. In /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/78151825 Test Execution, if the status of a testcase has been changed, a "Defect" or "D" button pops up. Clicking on that button will allow the creation of a new defect via the dialog below. An /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/78086454 existing defect can also be linked to the test execution.

  • Summary: This is where the subject or the title (or a 1-line summary/description) of the defect is entered. Its a mandatory field.
  • Description: This is the long/detailed description of the defect. Updates to the defect are added here too. This is a mandatory field.
  • Priority: A drop-down list of P1-P5 and they come from JIRA. This is a mandatory field.
  • Custom Fields: This button pops open a window that contains a list of custom fields that are specific to this project and have been setup in the /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77660629 JIRA Customizations section. This is not mandatory unless specific custom fields in JIRA have been set to mandatory.

Creating a Sub-Task in JIRA

A new /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/78086454 sub-task can be created in JIRA by first searching for the parent issue and filing a sub-task for that issue.

...

If the Remote Issue Links configuration has been set up in /wiki/spaces/ZEE50/pages/77660629 JIRA Customizations, then a remote link is sent to that particular defect in JIRA indicating that a Zephyr testcase has been linked to it. It shows the testcase ID, the summary, the test cycle in which it was executed and the status of that testcase execution.

This shows up in the "Issue Links" section of that defect in JIRA (see below). Clicking on the testcase ID transfer the user back to the testcase in Zephyr.
