Test Dashboard

Create a Test Dashboard

The Test Dashboard blueprint allows team members to create well formatted software quality dashboards that integrate test metrics from test management solutions such as Zephyr Enterprise Edition and/or Zephyr for JIRA, along side annotations and other free-form content. Test metrics can be added during the process of setting up a dashboard or later, by using the Zephyr macros.

IMPORTANT

In order for test metrics from Zephyr Enterprise Edition and/or Zephyr for JIRA to show in a Test Dashboard, those systems must first be integrated to Confluence. Please see the detailed instructions on how to do that for /wiki/spaces/ZBP/pages/17760291 or for Integrating Zephyr Squad with Zephyr Blueprints for Confluence.

To start using this blueprint, first click on the main "Create" button:

In the resulting dialog, select "Zephyr Blueprints" and click "Next".

Three templates are shown. Pick the first one titled "Create and share a Test Dashboard" and click "Next".

This wizard now allows you to customize a few aspects of your dashboard before you start editing it with your own content. Enter the name of the Project and the Release you want to report on. This information can be changed later if you want to. Click "Next".

Now title this dashboard page with some relevant contextual information. Based on which test management solution you have already integrated with (it could be Zephyr Enterprise Edition, Zephyr for JIRA or both), select them appropriately. What this will do is add those macros to the resulting dashboard page. You will then be able to modify them, configure them, move them around or copy them on the page once you start editing it.

Now click on "Create" and the resulting Test Dashboard is ready for your content and metrics configuration.

Metrics Macros

Zephyr Enterprise Edition Test Metrics

The Zephyr Enterprise Edition Test Metrics macro can be inserted on any page via the "Insert" menu or searching for it in the Macro Browser. On clicking the "Edit" button on the inserted macro, the following configuration dialog is shown. As seen, a number of customizations are possible, including what the displayed metric on the page will be titled, whether data from a specific project or all projects is needed, what sort of metric is being displayed and what needs to be shown on the X-Axis and Y-Axis, and the type of chart needed. Chart sizing options also exist as well as how often the data on that metric should be refreshed for the user automatically.

Note that the exact same metric as seen in Zephyr Enterprise Edition dashboards will not be shown here, but the same data is displayed as well as additional options of across projects/releases, and configurable X/Y Axis options. To get metric results to display, select a single project and corresponding X and Y axis. Valid combinations of X and Y axis are displayed below in a graph.

Here is a list of all valid X and Y axis combinations:

Zephyr for JIRA Test Metrics

The Zephyr for JIRA Test Metrics macro can be inserted on any page via the "Insert" menu or searching for it in the Macro Browser. On clicking the "Edit" button on the inserted macro, the following dialog is shown that allows the appropriate gadget to be selected. You can further customize what shows up in the gadget by selecting it on the page and clicking on "Edit".

Note that these are the exact same gadgets that you would see in your Zephyr for JIRA Dashboards that are now being shown in Confluence.
